Since 1955, Ledo Pizza has been selling square pies and today has turned the practice into a slogan: "We never cut corners." As its website explains, the round pizza pans commonly seen today were very new in the 1950s, while rectangular baking pans were plentiful. The original Ledo restaurant in Adelphi, Maryland, hasn't changed much since Tommy Marcos Sr. and his business partner opened it. Franchising began in 1989.
